JCC Sleepover 2009
Saying "ni~~~~" for the camera before dinner!
So on the nineteenth and twentieth of the twelfth month of the year that just slipped out of our grasp (in other words, the 19th and the 20th of December 2009), we held our first ever JCC Sleepover at our dear Chairperson’s house.
We had fun (of course), playing games like guess-the-thing-in-the-box (which we, unfortunately, forgot to take pictures of), guess-the-food-while-being-blindfolded (pictures are available below), and guess-the-lyrics-in-three-listens (difficult, but everyone gave really good answers, or guesses if so, that I was surprised). Dinner was homemade Japanese curry, a little too thick (I’m allowed to say this because I took part in the cooking) but nonetheless great (I hope), and everyone ate together (duh) and chatted about random stuffs. Only a few stayed over in the end, but it was a great day (and morning, for those who stayed over).
For the seniors, this sleepover was a chance (maybe our last) to get together (before the stressful A-level year rolls around) and relax. It was also an opportunity to get to know our juniors (though only some showed up – thank you so much for that). For the juniors (or the few that turned up), it was a chance for them to know us, the seniors, more.
Pictures and more elaboration are available below (or under the cut, depending on how you got here and if you’ve already clicked on the link before you read until here):
Look at all the sweets scattered on the table - they were prizes for the games.
This was how our day started – or not really, it’s just truthfully sweets for the prizes. Our day started out slightly disastrous (but hey, we need a balance of peace and chaos to feel at ease, right?) with us finding out that we didn’t have enough curry roux to feed the 15 or so people who are coming. We solved that though, by rushing down to the nearest Cold Storage and getting more boxes of said crucial ingredient.
When more people arrived, we split up the job (some started preparing dinner, and others went to play games). The first game was guess-the-thing-in-the-box. Self-explanatory title, no? Too bad though, we didn’t get pictures of it, and come to think of it, I’m not the best person to write this report as I was cooped up in the kitchen most of the time, but anyway, I’m sure it was kind of fun.
After the game above, we – or should I say, they – moved onto guess-the-food-while-being-blindfolded. Another self-explanatory title, yes. (And more of this will turn up as the report drags on.)
Evil plotting~
We had food like Sweet Potato Kit-kat and Wasabi Kit-kat, concoctions like whipped cream + cheese spread, potato chip + chilli sauce + spaghetti sauce + lychee drink. That wasn’t very bad, right? But wait ’til you see…
The list of concoctions/food stuffs that were used in the game
Ahhh what will they be getting~?
This. (Look down.)

Hmmm... interesting concoctions. XDD
They are:
Left – Jam + Potato chip + Pi Pa Gao + Maple syrup
Right – Orange pudding + coffee powder…. anymore?
These are concocted by our dear members for our very sweet organizers (or well, the people who concocted the ones before that) as the final round of this game. I wonder how they tasted like…
Group photo!
So after the Guess-the-food game, we ate dinner – homemade curry made by our dear chairpersons (from instant curry roux, lol)!

After dinner, we went up to the master bedroom and started the next game – Guess-the-song-lyrics! Or well, transcribe the song lyrics by ear. We had songs ranging from BIGBANG’s Koe wo Kikasete to Arashi’s A.RA.SHI. We had some obscure songs, courtesy of me, like school food punishment’s sea-through communication, and Lisa’s (aozorafantasii on youtube) Lonely City. I hope they had fun playing it~
By the time we’re done with this game, people had to leave. We were left with a grand total of………….. 5 people for the night. So we just slummed around and watched Ponyo, FNS Kayousai 2009, and other random stuffs (on a big screen with superb sound system!) before retiring to the “bed” (some slept on the comfy sofa, some on the floor, lol).
We watched Ponyo on a reaaaaally big screen!
And that is the end of this report, brought to you by yours truly (karayuquex — you know who I am). You can go back up the post for a touching conclusion if you long for one. =D
(Note: Half the post disappeared when our once reliable host, uh, went down for a while, so this post is just a shadow of the previous magnificent one. Oh and, for all the photos taken on the day, you can add me on Facebook and access it there.)
