Introduction
DHSJCC (our pet name DHS NikoNiko) is an Interest Group set up in 2009 by two Japan enthusiasts in Dunman High School. We are currently a 29-member strong club. Our objective is to promote the Japanese culture and providing enthusiasts a platform to express their passion for the Japanese culture.
.
Our regular activities include:
- Weekly meetings to share our experiences and knowledge about the Japanese culture through presentations as well as some hands-on activities occasionally.
- Japanese movie outings and regular karaoke gatherings at Japanese karaoke outlets.
- Organizing and planning activities and events related to the Japanese culture in school (this makes up the bulk of our activities)
.
What we have achieved
In 2009, we held a presentation introducing Japanese festivals to the Junior High section of the school during International Friendship Day. Our club members were also actively involved in the preparation and setting up of the Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2009 Japanese cultural booth, which proved to be a significant success for our young club.

What you can expect
(Updated 5 Feb) For 2010, you can expect a fun-filled Japanese-y year ahead! For one, we’re collaborating with the school to bring you a whole Japan-esque section in Kaleidoscope. Secondly, we’re still hoping to bring you a Japanese Movie Marathon (coupled with several other activities that will expose you to/immerse you in the Japanese culture). Thirdly, it’s still largely unconfirmed, but we intend to forge stronger bonds with the other JCCs in other JCs and polytechnics, AND with Japanese community in Singapore, and create something exciting from that.
